Why Choose the Family Tour?
This tour is perfect for families with kids. It prioritizes your young one’s comfort and entertainment, and stops at the most exciting attractions. You’ll have the opportunity to see salmon, mountains and Star the Reindeer as your glide through downtown Anchorage and along the coastal trail. We take a break at the Westchester Lagoon playground where you’ll enjoy ice cream and a beautiful view of the Chugach Range. This tour is private so your family will get a personalized experience based on your prior riding experience and what you want to see.
The guided Family Tour of Anchorage on a Segway PT is about 1.5 hours in length with the length based on training and Segway experience.
What Will We Do?
Learning to ride a Segway is simple, fun and safe for the whole family! Before starting the tour, you will watch a safety video, then your guide will lead you through orientation, training and practice on the Segway before heading out. A helmet is required and will be provided.
It is also required that all riders go through the training and demonstrate that they are competent and comfortable on a Segway. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 907.277.4545. We also offer GoPet three-wheel scooters as an alternative for anyone who does not feel comfortable on a Segway or for children who are too small to ride a Segway.
Things you may see include:
- King silver salmon returning from the ocean to spawn at Ship Creek or fish of prize-winning-size being pulled from the water (based on the season)
- Anchorage’s unofficial mascot, Star the Reindeer
- A breath-taking view of Cook Inlet, the Alaska Range, Denali and Mount Susitna
- Town Square in the heart of downtown with its fabulous flower displays
- Westchester Lagoon and its playground (plus a stop for ice cream at the Snack Shack)
- The Delaney Park Strip and Centennial Rose Garden (for some off road riding)
- The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail as it winds along the water, one of the most beautiful coastal trails in the nation
Each tour may vary slightly to best fit the group, the riders’ experience, comfort and interests.
